Dok Blanchard

Through blocks of shadows and windows of light, Dok Blanchard's black and white photography reveal a tension between technical control and artistic freedom.

The artist places importance on both methodologies as he constantly strives to achieve a greater knowledge.

His pursuit began at San Diego City College, where he enrolled in nearly every photography-related course available, gaining a sturdy foundation in the art. Now a professional photographer with his own style and sense, he yearns to know more, to create more, to get on the other side of the negative.

Blanchard is currently creating a body of work consisting of key attractions in San Diego, including the beach, downtown San Diego, and Balboa Park.

He develops original prints, in formats from 4 x 5 and above, in his home studio in Rancho Peñasquitos.
