Steve Quartley

From his studio in Southern California, Steven Quartly creates impressionistic oils on canvas, specializing in seascapes and cityscapes. Quartly's dedication to painting the world he sees, has contributed to his vibrant works. A plain white canvas becomes a beautiful European city scene, a Mediterranean seascape or a warm California landscape.

Quartly began oil painting at age 13, demonstrating a love of life, nature, color and form. Raised on the Northern California coast he was surrounded by the beautiful scenery and the inspiring city. There he studied oil painting under a mentor painter. Painting portraits and landscapes for others would be the start of his passion for painting.

He received his Bachelor of Art in fine art from Azusa Pacific University in 1996. As a student he was honored to paint a 10x50 foot mural on canvas for the Marshburn Memorial Library. It was this project that solidified his desire to pursue painting.

Steven's work is now shown at some of the most prominent galleries in the United States, from La Jolla and Laguna Beach to beautiful Carmel. He has participated in many shows. Among them, the Orange Plain Air Paint the Town show where he took "Best in Show," Los Angeles County Fair Museum exhibit, and the Los Angeles Designers Showcase and Designers Challenge on the Home and Garden channel.

Quartly's energy and devotion to each painting is what makes him unique. His

design in composition and color is meaningful and skilled. The loose and whimsical brush strokes and pallet knife work bring passion and emotion.

"My hope is to bring emotion to the canvas, a sense of remembrance and a time of quiet reflection." –Steve Quartly
